About Ho Chen at The University of Hong Kong

Professor Ho Chen is a Chair Professor of Cybersecurity in the Department of Computer Science and the Musketeers Foundation Institute of Data Science at The University of Hong Kong. He directs the JC STEM Lab of Intelligent Cybersecurity, an interdisciplinary research lab focused on advancing the intersection of computer security and machine learning. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a Fellow of IEEE. Professor Chen’s research spans computer and information security, machine learning, program analysis, and software testing. His work emphasizes applying modern machine learning techniques to security problems, as well as improving the security, privacy, and robustness of machine learning systems themselves. He has made significant contributions to fuzzing, adversarial attacks, and security evaluation, with publications in top-tier venues such as ACM CCS and NeurIPS. In addition to cybersecurity, Professor Chen’s lab is expanding into AI for biological sciences, in collaboration with the Lab of Mechanobiology in Diseases at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The JC STEM Lab is equipped with state-of-the-art computing infrastructure, including NVIDIA H100 and H200 GPU clusters and extensive cloud resources, enabling large-scale research at the frontier of AI and security.
