About Haibo Jiang at The University of Hong Kong

Professor Haibo Jiang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at The University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on understanding how molecules are transported within cells and tissues, a fundamental biological process that underlies human health, disease progression, and therapeutic delivery. His lab aims to “draw maps” of molecular trafficking by visualising, molecule by molecule, how nutrients and therapeutics move through biological systems in both healthy and diseased states. By integrating advanced imaging technologies, stable isotope tracing, and chemical biology approaches, Professor Jiang develops and applies multimodal methods—such as correlative light, electron, and ion microscopy—to study molecular transport and metabolism at single-cell resolution. His research spans lipid transport, nutrient metabolism, and the cellular and subcellular transport mechanisms of diverse therapeutics, including RNA-targeted drugs and nanomedicines, with the long-term goal of improving disease diagnosis and enabling more precise and effective treatments.
