About Rick Gooding at University of British Columbia (UBC)

Rick Gooding is an Associate Professor of Teaching at the University of British Columbia and Chair of the Master of Children’s Literature Program. His research and teaching focus on children’s and young adult literature, eighteenth-century fiction, and posthuman approaches to representations of the self, with a particular interest in how contemporary writing for young readers challenges liberal humanist models of identity. Representative publications include "Elevated water temperature and carbon dioxide concentration increase the growth of a keystone echinoderm", and "Quantifying the Effects of Predator and Prey Body Size on Sea Star Feeding Behaviors", which reflect their ongoing engagement with the field.
