About Zerina Kapetanovic at Stanford University (Stanford)

Zerina Kapetanovic is an Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University, with courtesy appointments in Computer Science and Geophysics. Her research focuses on low-power wireless communication, sensing, and large-scale Internet of Things (IoT) systems, with the broader goal of enabling intelligent, energy-efficient devices that operate reliably in real-world environments. Prior to joining Stanford, Kapetanovic was a postdoctoral researcher at Microsoft Research, where she worked in the Networking Research Group and the Research for Industry Group on next-generation IoT platforms. Her work has been recognized through the Yang Research Award, the University of Washington Distinguished Dissertation Award, and the Microsoft Research Distinguished Dissertation Grant, and she was selected for the 2020 UC Berkeley Rising Stars in EECS Workshop. Kapetanovic earned her PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington, and her lab at Stanford is part of SystemX and the Wu Tsai Human Performance Alliance.
