About Gregory Dudek Mcgill at McGill University (McGill)

Professor Gregory Dudek is a Professor in the School of Computer Science at McGill University and holds the Distinguished James McGill Chair. He is an IEEE Fellow, a member of Mila – Quebec AI Institute, and a leading researcher in robotics and autonomous systems. He is also the Research Director of McGill’s Mobile Robotics Lab, one of the most established robotics research groups in Canada. Professor Dudek’s research focuses on mobile and marine robotics, autonomous navigation, robot localization and mapping, sensor fusion, and learning-based robotic systems that operate in complex, real-world environments. His work integrates computer vision, machine learning, and multi-agent systems to enable robots that can explore, interpret, and learn from the world. In addition to terrestrial robotics, he has made significant contributions to marine robotics and field robotics, deploying autonomous systems in challenging environments. His research also spans human–robot interaction, self-driving vehicles, and the application of AI and optimization techniques to telecommunications systems, including 5G/6G network optimization. Through decades of research, leadership, and mentorship, Professor Dudek has played a central role in advancing robotics as an interdisciplinary field that bridges perception, learning, and embodied intelligence. Their recent contributions to the field are exemplified by influential works such as "Session 11: Vision".
