Professor Weixiong Zhang is ADoPAIR and Chair Professor of Systems Biology and Artificial Intelligence at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and a Hong Kong Global STEM Scholar. His research lies at the intersection of genomics, artificial intelligence, and biomedical data science. He focuses on uncovering the genetic architectures of complex traits and diseases, studying the biogenesis and function of noncoding RNAs, and developing AI-driven methods for medical imaging, disease etiology, and biomarker discovery. His work also emphasizes novel algorithms for large-scale biological data analysis, combining heuristic search, constraint satisfaction, and combinatorial optimization with real-world biomedical applications.
