Professor Man Ho Allen Au is a Professor and Associate Head (Research and Development) in the Department of Computing at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research focuses on information security, applied cryptography, and blockchain technologies, with an emphasis on designing practical cryptographic protocols that offer strong security guarantees while remaining efficient and deployable in real-world systems. Professor Au has made significant contributions to cryptography and secure systems, with work published in top-tier venues such as ACM CCS, IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy (S&P), ASIACRYPT, CRYPTO, ESORICS, DSN, and IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security (TIFS). His research covers zero-knowledge proofs, ring signatures, proxy re-encryption, fully homomorphic encryption, secure multi-party computation, and cryptographic primitives for blockchain and decentralized systems. He is recognized as a highly cited researcher, ranked among the Top 1% worldwide by citations and listed in Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists. Beyond academia, Professor Au’s research has generated substantial social and economic impact. In the past five years, he has attracted over HK$30 million in competitive research funding and high-level consultancy projects.
