John D. Spengler

John D. Spengler is the Akira Yamaguchi Professor of Environmental Health and Human Habitation at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Harvard University. He earned his doctorate from Harvard University and has established himself as a foundational figure in environmental exposure science. His research program investigates the complex relationships between built environments and human health, with particular emphasis on air quality—both outdoor and indoor—noise pollution, and microbial exposures. Professor Spengler's work is characterized by its translational approach, linking precise environmental measurements with epidemiological studies to quantify health risks.
